What your future coworkers have to say about Vineskills
“We have a culture of personal responsibility, paired with an incredible team. I feel like a consultant who gets to run my book of work how I see fit, but at the same time, I'm connected to this expert group and can tap into their knowledge and experience.” - Frances, Optimizer
“I really enjoy sharing space with people who have common values: empathy, fun, kindness (and more!).” - Matthew, CTO
“I have fun every single day. I could talk a lot about the actual work, my colleagues, our partners, and my clients but all of that falls under the umbrella of really enjoying my workday, not just getting through it.” - Val, Optimizer
Day-in-the-life
of a Vineskills-er:
-
6:30 AM: On most days I get up between 6 and 7 AM, depending on when the baby wakes up. I make a very necessary coffee and, maybe if I’m lucky, grab a quick bagel.
8:00 AM: We leave the house to take my older son to daycare. It’s a 30-minute drive there and a 30-minute drive back. If I don’t have a call first thing, sometimes I’m able to stop at the grocery store and get in and out before it gets busy.
9:30 AM: We’re back home. I get the baby down for her first nap of the day and then get to work. I try to book my meetings around the baby’s nap schedule. She’s almost 9 months old now (time flies!).10:00 AM: My meetings with clients start. In between, I check in on Slack messages, respond to emails, and try to fit in a project here and there where possible. I do a lot of work with clients via email, and we schedule ad hoc meetings as needed.
11:30 AM: When the baby wakes up, she either joins my meetings or hangs out on the floor. Clients seem to love having the baby on calls, which definitely adds a human element. She gets changed and fed, and then it’s back to work.
2:30 PM: The baby goes back down for a nap and sleeps for 2 hours. On a good day, I have time to throw in a load of laundry in between calls, which range from quick demos to hour-long QuickBooks training sessions with clients.
4:00 PM: The baby wakes up again and we head out to pick up my son from daycare.
5:00 PM: Finally back home! We make dinner together and hang out as a family.
8:00 PM: The kids are in bed—and as soon as I can, I am, too! My husband and I have a bit of time to relax together. I admit, I’ve been known to sometimes pull out my laptop to catch up on any remaining work tasks for the day while in bed.
-
5:30 AM: I’m an early bird, so I get up around 5:30 or 5:45 AM. The first thing I do is feed the dog and take him out.
6:30—7:00 AM: I like to get a headstart on the day by checking in on emails first thing.
7:00—8:00 AM: I usually read for an hour.
8:00 AM: I re-open my laptop and start my day. It’s typically made up of client calls, interspersed with Optimization and automations work.
12:00 PM—1:00 PM: Fortunately, my husband also works from home, so we’re able to have lunch together and take the dogs out for a walk.
1:00 PM: My afternoon is usually a mix of internal and client meetings, and getting through work projects in between calls.
4:00—5:00 PM: The end of the day is dedicated to wrapping up, making sure my inbox is up to date, and responding to all client emails.
5:30 PM: My husband and I once again walk the dogs, then start making dinner.
-
6:00 AM: My boyfriend wakes up. I get up, too (sometimes…sometimes I’m able to catch another hour of sleep if I’m lucky!).
7:00 AM: Let the dogs out, and have breakfast.
8:00 AM—9:00 AM: I start answering emails and getting ready for the day; I check my calendar and inbox to see what the day will look like.
9:00 AM—3:00 PM: Client calls start, some days back-to-back-to-back, other days a little less. In between calls, I work on responding to emails and tackle any project work that needs immediate attention.
1:00 PM— I grab a quick lunch and take the dogs out.
3:00 PM—5:00 PM: This is typically my deep focus time for project work. This includes trust reconciliations, bank reconciliations, financials, troubleshooting client problems, and working on their accounting processes. I’m pretty often working on clean-up projects when people come to us from other accounting systems. I’m frequently in Filevine building fusions, working on building out the financial and billing portion of Filevine, and creating invoice templates.
5:00—5:30 PM: It’s time to finish up emails for the day! I make sure that I’ve gotten back to clients and that my inbox is in good shape.
